Biopolymers Conference

December 14, 15 & 16, 2015       Cité des Congrès - Nantes - FRANCE

3rd Biopolymers 2015 International Conference

Deadlines: Registration full rates- 1st of December

Registration Early Birds - 15th of November

Increasing environmental awareness is prompting researchers and industrialists to develop strategies for environmental sustainability by using processes and materials with low cost, energy consumption and toxicity, together with high biodegradability. There is a strong motivation within this context to develop innovative bio-based polymer materials. The 3rd Biopolymers 2015 International Conference is an attempt to explore the various ways to utilize natural resources for tomorrow’s composites, bioplastics or any functional daily life materials. Such opportunities will be investigated through four main themes:

Physical and processing properties of rubber compound and recycled rubber

Rubber from natural sources represents 45% of the global consumption due to its peculiar properties. This session will be dedicated to the characterization of end-use and processing properties of natural rubber based compounds including innovative recycling process.

Biobased composites and blends for structural materials

This session will be dedicated to biobased multiphasic materials (polymer blends, composites ...) involving biopolymers as matrixes (cellulose, starch, PLA,..) and/or dispersed phases (plant fibres, nanofiller, …). The attention will be focused on process / structure / morphology / properties relationships, and on the development of structural materials (mechanical properties, permeability...).

Functional renewable materials

This session will include design, characterization and modelization of renewable functional material with preset properties other than mechanical properties (gas/liquid barrier properties, light-emitting devices, electro-sensors, electronics, detection of ionized radiation, etc.). These functionalities might result from surface functionalization, nanostructuration, phase transformations, hybrid assemblies, liquid crystal phases…

Lignocellulosic biomass waste as source of materials

Lignocellulosic materials (e.g. wood, plant fibers, crops, etc.) are produced in huge quantities around the world. Their use inevitably creates waste. This session of the Biopolymers Conference will cover recycling strategies for these wastes with a special interest on biorefinery approaches for the production of chemicals, polymers or materials. Specific processes to monitor or remove contaminants present in waste are also considered including fast and easy to use detection methods.
